Our Plastic Promise

Removing Plastic from our Supply Chain

Plastic can cause a lot of harm to both people, and the environment. Chemicals in plastics get absorbed by humans and marine life through food and water, having a detrimental effect on both. Here are a few of the things we've focused on improving:

Single-use Product Bags

While the majority of our products have never been individually wrapped in plastic, we’ve eliminated this practice entirely so that no garments are delivered single poly-bagged.

Duster Bags

We’ve removed commonly used duster bags from all our production. To protect white, or easily damaged garments during transportation, we’ve opted to use certified EN13432 biodegradable and compostable bags instead.

Carton Tape

By using paper tape instead of standard cellotape on our cartons, we’ve reduced unnecessary waste and made it easier to recycle cardboard.

Swing Tags

We’ve removed metal eyelets from garment swing tags, and while these aren’t plastic, they do account for a substantial reduction of unnecessary waste, every year.

Garment Tags

Our socks, underwear and belts have moved to a FSC cardboard hook where the garment hangs on a clothing rack in stores. Also, swift tags are a commonly used element in clothing. A swift tag is a small plastic tag that binds products together (commonly used with socks). We are in the process of changing to thread or recycled plastic swift tags.

Retail Bags

We have never used single use plastic bags as store bags, and we will continue to do this. All of our paper retail bags are moving Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved.

Pallet Wrap

Since 2020, the cartons that are delivered to warehouses on our pallets have been arriving free from plastic shrink wrapping. In our own warehouse’s, we are working on eliminating the use of this or moving to a more sustainable option where it is still needed.

Courier Bags

We have made the transition away from courier bags made out of virgin polyester for ones that are made out of recycled polyester. While this isn’t removing plastic from our operations, it is reducing our use of a non-renewable resource.
